illustrator and designer

MARVIN LUNA

He received a BFA in graphic design in 2005 from the Miami International University of Art & Design. His time in Florida provided diverse work experiences and shaped his Christian faith. He interned as illustrator at the Miami Herald, joined the small ministry team at Calvary Chapel Miami as staff artist, and worked for United Capital Holdings, Inc. as their corporate designer. This background helped Marvin develop a bold and clean aesthetic that he applies to branding and identity solutions today.

Marvin has a passion for narrative and sequential art. In his time at Miami International University of Art & Design he collaborated with filmmakers on storyboarding short films, which gave him a deeper appreciation for cinema, children’s books, and comic books. Marvin attended Kendall College of Art & Design, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, attaining a BFA in illustration in 2012. That same year he received the Studio Excellence Award (Kendall CoIIege’s highest award bestowed upon one graduate in each major, for superior achievements and extraordinary quality of work).

2023 marked the year Marvin and writer Mike Salisbury’s graphic novel, The Quarry, was published by Scout Comics and distributed by Simon & Schuster in trade paperback form.

Marvin is married to Lindsey, a supportive partner and amazing mother to their bright and playful son, Jude. Lindsey is Dean of Social Sciences at Hope College, and a full-time superhero.

Marvin lives in Michigan with his supportive family. He currently freelances in graphic design, and most enjoys collaborating with writers in bringing their stories to life through illustration.
